Business and Administration Apprentice

As a major employer in Devon, NHS Devon is pleased to offer a 13 month apprenticeship on a fixed term contract in the Devon Access and Referral Team.

NHS Devon will cease to exist on 31 March 2013 with functions and responsibilities transferring to Cluster Commissioning Groups. Whilst the apprentices will initially be employed by NHS Devon, it is possible that they will transfer into a new organisation subject to TUPE regulations and NHS processes.

This is a superb opportunity to gain experience working for a busy NHS Trust and to study at the same time in a fast moving, supportive environment. The Devon Referral Service is the first point of contact for all patients to call to book their appointment for a specialist opinion. The service provides patients with a choice of hospital and also date and time to suit their busy schedules. You will be working with the local hospitals across North Devon, Torbay, Exeter and Plymouth and all community clinic settings that encompass the healthcare community.

You must have / or be predicted to obtain GCSE Grades A-C (or equivalent) in English Language.

The salary is 12,077 pro rata. The post will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check.

The Apprenticeship Scheme is run in conjunction with a training provider to ensure that you are supported by a first class training programme which will enable you to achieve the following qualifications: the QCF Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Business and Administration, Functional Skills in English, Mathematics and ICT at Level 2, the Level 3 Technical Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration, Employment, Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills, which are embedded throughout the programme. In total candidates can receive up to six certificates including the overall apprenticeship framework certificate.

Closing date for applicants is Tuesday 4 December 2012.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a Mock Interview with Education + Training Skills, the Training Provider on either Tuesday 18 December 2012 or Thursday 20 December 2012. Further interviews will then be held with NHS Devon at a later date to be confirmed.

Please note that if you hold, or are working towards, a Level 4 qualification or higher e.g. HNC, HND, foundation degree, degree etc. then you are not eligible for government apprenticeship funding and should therefore not apply.
